Hikes
in Western NC
Boone
NC is full of scenic outdoor beauty. Surrounded
by the beautiful North Carolina Blue Ridge
Mountains and several ancient rivers, this area
is truly breathtaking. One of the most loved
ways to experience all that the High Country
Mountains of Boone North Carolina has to offer
is to spend the day enjoying NC Blue Ridge
Mountain Hiking. Hiking is perhaps one of the best ways to
see areas of the Western NC High Country
Mountains that you ordinarily would not in a car. Boone NC and the communities of
Banner Elk
and
Blowing Rock are home to numerous
world famous North Carolina Hiking Trails
including trails at the Moses H. Cone Estate,
Grandfather Mountain, and The NC Blue Ridge
Parkway. In fact, one of the most widely
known long distance hiking trails, The
Appalachian Trail, traverses through the region,
making Boone NC a common stop along the
way.
All of our Boone N.C. Hotels are located

At the Moses H. Cone Manor in Blowing Rock North
Carolina you can hike trails such as the Boone
Fork Loop Trail, the Tanawha Trail, and
numerous other carriage trails that criss-cross throughout the park. Leading around Bass Lake
and Price Lake, these trails meander through the
countryside of the NC Blue Ridge Parkway. In
addition to great Hikes in Western NC, this park
is also a great place to enjoy
NC Horseback
Riding and Boone Fishing. Browse and tour the
estate’s large manor home and you will find some
beautiful treasures housed in the Southern
Highland Craft Guild’s Parkway Craft Center.
Closer to Linville and the resort town of Banner
Elk North Carolina is the beloved
Grandfather Mountain North Carolina.
Grandfather Mountain has
11 well maintained and designated Grandfather
Mountain Hiking trails. Grandfather’s well marked trails are accessed
via the Grandfather Mountain park entrance. Some
of the Grandfather trails begin at the base of
the peak while others begin at the
top. One in particular, the Grandfather Mountain
profile trail, is particularly strenuous, but
well worth the effort if you are an experienced
hiker. Permits are required to hike on the
Grandfather Profile Trail.
For a less strenuous experience, enjoy one of
the many scenic walks available
in the area. Our Boone N.C. Hotels are all very
close to the Lee & Vivian Reynolds Greenway
Trail. You can access Boone’s Greenway Trail
through several different locations, however, the
most noticed is at the Watauga County Recreation
Complex located off of State Farm Road. Boone’s
Greenway Trail is a three mile paved trail,
perfect for dog walking and light jogging.
